ICE Raid
Nearly 500 people were detained during an ICE raid on a Hyundai factory in Georgia on Thursday.
ICE agents arrested 475 individuals at the Hyundai-LG EV battery site west of Savannah—the largest single-site enforcement action in Department of Homeland Security history. More than 300 detainees are South Korean nationals.
Authorities said the operation followed a months-long probe into “unlawful employment practices and other serious federal crimes,” carried out with a judicial search warrant. Officials said some workers entered the U.S. illegally, while others overstayed visas or worked under visa waivers that prohibited employment. Detainees are being held at an ICE facility in Folkston, GA.
South Korea’s government responded with “concern and regret,” and reached an agreement with the U.S. to release its citizens and bring them home on a chartered plane.

ETERNAL PERSPECTIVE
Immigration raids bring light to the tension between laws, justice, and compassion. As policies are debated and enforced, Christians are reminded that true belonging isn’t found in earthly citizenship, but in Christ, as citizens of heaven.
“Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Caribbean Buildup
The U.S. is ramping up its counternarcotics and counterterrorism campaign in the Caribbean.
Since President Trump’s August executive order directing the Pentagon to use military force against Latin American drug cartels, tensions have been rising with Venezuela. The U.S. killed 11 “narcoterrorists” in international Caribbean waters on Tuesday, prompting Venezuela to fly two fighter jets over a U.S. Navy destroyer. Then, on Friday, the Pentagon sent 10 fighter jets to Puerto Rico, joining an attack submarine, surveillance planes, and eight warships already in the region.
Venezuela’s President Maduro called the buildup “the greatest threat” in a century and promised to respond to armed attacks with “maximum rebellion.”
The Pentagon, which President Trump re-renamed the “Department of War” on Friday, called Maduro’s regime a “cartel” and warned him not to interfere with the DOD DOW’s counterterrorism efforts.

CHRISTIAN RESPONSE
The political powers of the world have different priorities than the kingdom of God. As global powers maneuver to assert dominance, the King of the Universe’s priorities are clear and unchanged.
“Mankind, he has told each of you what is good and what it is the LORD requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.”

Swimming Against the Current of Aging
It’s simple—we age because our cells do. The good news? Dolphins (yep, think Flipper) helped crack the code to slow it down.
After studying aging Navy dolphins, researchers discovered C15:0—an essential fatty acid that strengthens cell membranes and helps slow (and even reverse) aging at the cellular level. It’s a breakthrough that’s now available in Fatty15, a once-a-day, vegan-friendly supplement.

SPORTS
Dun Dun Dun Dun!
‘Tis the season for skipping Sunday afternoon naps and managing imaginary sports teams with friends.
The NFL kicked off Thursday with the Philadelphia Eagles—defending Super Bowl champs—soaring past the Dallas Cowboys 24-20. The rivals wasted no time butting helmets; Eagles defender Jalen Carter was ejected before the first snap of the game for spitting at Cowboys QB Dak Prescott after the opening kickoff.
Then on Friday, the LA Chargers sambaed past the Kansas City Chiefs in Brazil, 27-21. Tonight’s Monday Night Football opener features another conference match-up: the Chicago Bears vs the Minnesota Vikings.
Meanwhile, on the tennis court, Aryna Sabalenka and Carlos Alcaraz both took home their second U.S. Open singles titles. And on the basketball court, the Indiana Fever is feeling under the weather after losing star guard Caitlin Clark to a season-ending injury.

Verse to consider if you've begun looking forward to Sunday afternoons more than Sunday mornings… “LORD, who is like you among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, revered with praises, performing wonders? You stretched out your right hand, and the earth swallowed them. With your faithful love, you will lead the people you have redeemed; you will guide them to your holy dwelling with your strength.”

IN OTHER BREWS…
August’s jobs report was… meh. The U.S. added just 22,000 jobs, while unemployment rose to 4.3%—the highest since 2021. For the first time since the pandemic, there are more unemployed workers than job openings. Driven by seasonal labor force shifts and tariff uncertainty, the weak report all but guarantees a Fed rate trim later this month.
Google’s getting fined across the pond for playing favorites. E.U. regulators fined the tech giant $3.5B for giving its own ad services an unfair edge, wrapping up a case that’s been loading for two years. It’s the fourth time the Commission has slapped Google with a multibillion-euro antitrust fine. Google called the decision “wrong” and vowed to appeal.
Thinking about asking for a raise? Tesla plans to offer CEO Elon Musk a hefty one: $1T over 10 years… with conditions. Tesla will need to hit some lofty company targets by 2035, including increasing its market value from $1T to $8.5T. Meanwhile, two Powerball players are retiring (probably) after winning and splitting the multi-state lottery’s historic $1.787B jackpot Saturday.
Russia hit Ukraine with the largest drone attack of the war yesterday, in what President Zelenskyy called “a deliberate crime and prolongation of the war.” Thirteen missiles and 800+ attack drones targeted sites across Ukraine, striking a government building and killing a mother and child in Kyiv. Amid sluggish peace negotiations, President Trump called on Europe to stop buying Russian oil.
The Land of the Rising Sun’s PM is signing off after less than a year on the job. Shigeru Ishiba announced yesterday that he’ll resign as Japan’s Prime Minister following his party’s string of election defeats. His last hurrah was a trade deal with Lady Liberty that sets tariffs on Japanese imports at 15%, finalized on Thursday.
