President Trump hasn’t given up hope of turning Greenland into Red-White-and-Blue-land.

On Sunday, #47 introduced Louisiana Governor Landry (R) as newly appointed special envoy to the island—a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark—saying he “understands how essential Greenland is to our national security.” Landry said he was honored to help “make Greenland a part of the U.S.” and that it shouldn’t affect his role as the Pelican State’s governor.

Denmark was less excited about the announcement, calling the appointment “deeply upsetting,” summoning Uncle Sam’s ambassador and telling Washington to respect Danish sovereignty.

Greenland has a largely self-governing population of ~57,000 people (roughly the population of Key West, FL), but relies on Denmark for defense, foreign policy, and ~½ of its annual budget. Polls show Greenlanders favor independence from Denmark, but overwhelmingly oppose becoming part of the U.S.

The DOJ kicked off another cycle of release-and-react, unveiling ~30,000 new Epstein Files on Monday.

The data was dumped with a disclaimer that some files contain “untrue and sensationalist” claims about President Trump, who has not been accused of wrongdoing. A federal prosecutor’s 2020 email (see here) stated Trump flew on Epstein’s jet “many more times than previously has been reported… at least eight flights between 1993 and 1996,” including with women who were “possible witnesses” in Ghislane Maxwell’s sex-trafficking trial. 

The release also included a 2021 subpoena seeking records from Mar-a-Lago and an email from the British royal residence at Balmoral asking if Maxwell had found any “new inappropriate friends.”

Meanwhile, the DOJ responded to bipartisan criticism over redactions and the disappearance of some previously released files saying they were necessary “to protect victims.”

CBS is under fire for Bari-ing a 60 Minutes segment on deportations to a “brutal and torturous” Salvadoran prison. Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss delayed the story, citing insufficient context and on-the-record reporting of the White House’s POV. The segment’s correspondent, Sharyn Alfonsi, called the move “political” and warned it gives the administration power to kill any story by refusing to comment.

Uncle Sam’s Naval fleet is getting a golden makeover. President Trump unveiled plans Monday for new “Trump-class” warships. The planned “Golden Fleet” would start with two large “guided missile” battleships and expand to dozens more. Critics say traditional battleships sailed into the sunset decades ago and note that planned components—hypersonic missiles, railguns, high-powered lasers—remain in development. Delaware’s Supreme Court reinstated Musk’s 2018 Tesla pay package, saying a lower court’s decision to entirely cancel the compensation was too extreme. It concludes a years-long legal battle over whether Tesla’s board failed to protect shareholders by approving the record-setting compensation of $56B in stock options (which are now worth ~$139B).

Waymo’s robotaxis threw on the hazard lights and gave up during San Francisco’s blackout. On Saturday, a substation fire knocked out power to traffic lights, homes, and businesses, leaving 130,000 customers without power. Waymo’s self-driving cars struggled to handle the dark traffic signals, eventually parking in the middle of streets and intersections when Waymo paused service in the Bay Area (see video).
