India Air Crash
India Air flight 171—traveling from Ahmedabad, India to London, England—crashed less than a minute after takeoff yesterday, killing over 200; the world’s worst aviation crash in a decade.
Video shows the plane, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, with its nose pointed upward while losing altitude; it crashed into a medical college hostel, killing at least five medical students and injuring dozens more. At least one passenger, a British man in seat 11A, survived.
It was the first crash of this model plane, which had been operating since 2011. Boeing stock initially fell 8%.
Investigators from India and the U.K. joined first responders at the crash site to try to determine the cause of the crash, which was not immediately clear. The U.S., Boeing, and GE Aerospace have all promised to help with what will likely be a months-long investigation.

ETERNAL PERSPECTIVE
The promise of heaven does not remove the pains of this world, but it does give us hope, strength, and peace during life’s most difficult seasons. Join us in praying for hope, strength, and peace for India’s families and first responders.
“Grant, O Lord, to all who are bereaved the spirit of faith and courage, that they may have strength to meet the days to come with steadfastness and patience; not sorrowing as those without hope, but in thankful remembrance of your great goodness, and in the joyful expectation of eternal life with all who love you.”

WORLD NEWS
Israel Strikes Iran
Israel says it launched a "preemptive strike” against Iranian nuclear sites and strategic individuals around 3:00 a.m. local time, with reports of explosions across Iran.
The attack comes amid growing tension over Iran’s nuclear program. Yesterday, a U.N. watchdog issued Iran its first censure in 20 years for not complying with its nuclear obligations. Israel claims that Iran has enough uranium to create 15 nuclear weapons “within days;” Iran has said their uranium enrichment is for civilian energy generation only.
Iranian state media reported Hossein Salami, head of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard, was killed along with other senior leaders.
U.S. Secretary of State Rubio told Iran not to “target U.S. interests or personnel,” saying Uncle Sam was “not involved.” The U.S. began evacuating nonessential staff in the region earlier this week.

Age Like a Dolphin
Turns out dolphins are aging gracefully… and not just from good genes.
While helping older Navy dolphins, veterinarians discovered that higher levels of a rare fatty acid—C15:0—helped them stay healthier, longer. What if humans focused on that nutrient, too?
Fatty15 is the first supplement with C15:0, the first essential fatty acid discovered in 90 years. It helps support everything from sleep and joint comfort to cognitive, metabolic, and immune health. It’s backed by 100+ studies, 40+ patents, and a lotttt of glowing reviews from real users.

U.S. NEWS
Deal
President Trump says a new trade deal with China “is done.”
While still not officially official, Trump posted that the U.S. will levy 55% tariffs on Chinese goods (10% baseline + 20% fentanyl + ~25% left from his first term) and China will levy 10% on U.S. goods.
Additionally, China is supplying “any necessary rare earths” to the U.S. “up front.” China processes 80-90% of the world’s rare earth minerals and magnets—materials used heavily by the automotive and defense sectors—making this a major sticking point in negotiations. In return, Uncle Sam is easing tech export restrictions (on things like jet engines) and allowing Chinese students to attend U.S. universities again.
Meanwhile, a federal appeals court allowed Trump’s broad tariffs to remain in place while legal challenges—claiming they need Congressional approval—play out.

Verse to consider whether you’re negotiating with an international adversary, a difficult coworker, or a cranky toddler… “Seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry for help.”

IN OTHER BREWS…
Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) was forcibly removed and handcuffed by the Secret Service during a news conference for Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem (see video). Padilla said he was grabbed “almost immediately” after standing to ask a question; DHS said he ignored “repeated commands” to back away and did not initially identify himself as a Senator. Democrats on Capitol Hill condemned the “disgraceful” incident.
D.C. is hosting a big bash tomorrow. A military parade—featuring tanks, aircraft, and 6,600 soldiers—will celebrate the Army’s 250th birthday (also President Trump’s 79th). Critics say the parade is a waste of money that gives “Soviet Union and North Korea” vibes; there are anti-Trump protests planned in 2,000+ locations. Supporters say the parade celebrates “the resilience of a vital institution.”
A federal judge ordered President Trump to return control of the National Guard to California. The ruling, which takes effect at noon today, says Trump overstepped his authority in deploying ~4,000 guardsmen to quell protests against Governor Newsom’s wishes. The Trump admin is appealing. In Los Angeles, a downtown curfew (8 p.m.-6 a.m.) remains in effect after days of demonstrations, vandalism, and nearly 400 arrests.
Brian Wilson, the creative force behind the Beach Boys, died at 82. Wilson sang and played bass for the summertime hitmaker, which produced 13 Top 10 singles (including #1s “I Get Around,” “Help Me, Rhonda,” and “Good Vibrations”) in the 1960s. The Beach Boys—which included two more Wilson brothers, a cousin, and a childhood friend—sold more than 100 million records worldwide.
Anti-immigrant riots have erupted in Northern Ireland. Police say that Monday’s peaceful protests—over the alleged sexual assault of a local teenage girl by two Romanian boys—have descended into “racist thuggery.” The most intense violence was on Tuesday when hundreds of masked rioters attacked police and burned homes; 41 officers were injured and 13 people arrested.
