Announcement
Tylenol use in pregnancy is stirring debate.
On Monday, President Trump and top federal health officials announced a possible link between autism and the use of Tylenol (acetaminophen) in pregnancy. They point to a recent Harvard-led meta-analysis of 46 studies with ~100,000 participants that found an “association” between prenatal acetaminophen use and neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism.
Trump said the FDA will advise doctors to recommend Tylenol only for “extremely high fever” during pregnancy and will update acetaminophen labeling.
Many in the medical community disagree. They note that other studies have found no link between acetaminophen and autism and argue that untreated fevers pose a greater risk to the baby.
Meanwhile, federal officials have fast-tracked a label change for leucovorin (a decades-old drug typically prescribed to cancer patients) as a treatment for speech-related autistic symptoms.

RADIATE HOPE
Freed from the fear of death by Jesus's death and resurrection, Christians think of our bodies differently than the rest of the world. Seek comfort and wisdom from your Creator when you’re anxious and unsure about how to care for His creation.
“For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well.”

POLITICS
Out of Commission
The Supreme Court is letting President Trump continue to use his Apprentice catchphrase in the Oval Office.
Monday, SCOTUS voted along ideological lines (6-3) to allow Trump to fire Biden-appointed Federal Trade Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter. The decision temporarily halts a July appellate ruling that Slaughter’s firing was “unlawful” due to a 90-year-old precedent that prevents presidents from firing heads of independent agencies (think: FTC, SEC) without cause.
The Supremes agreed to revisit the 1935 decision, Humphrey’s Executor v. United States, later this term. If Humphrey’s is overturned, department heads may shift with every new presidential administration.
Dissenting liberal justices argued the congressionally established independent agencies should be shielded from presidential influence, and warned that expanding the president’s hiring and firing authority may “extinguish” their “bipartisanship and independence” and “reshape the Nation’s separation of powers.”

ETERNAL PERSPECTIVE
Even the longest precedent in SCOTUS history is just a speck on the timeline of eternity. SCOTUS decisions and agency leadership changes may feel like big news, but the things that will have eternal impact are your “small” acts of love and obedience before God.
“Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith.”

WORLD NEWS
UNGA
The 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly is meeting in the Big Apple this week.
In his 56-minute speech, President Trump covered “historic trade deals” and ceasefires, the necessity of freeing Hamas-held hostages, Palestinian statehood rewarding Hamas, the “con” of climate change, and Europe’s need to “cut off” Russian oil. Critics say many of Trump’s claims were inaccurate, including his suggestion that London wants to “go to Sharia law” under its Muslim mayor, Sadiq Khan.
Meanwhile, the Secret Service thwarted a potentially “catastrophic” telecommunications attack before the world leaders gathered.
The agency announced yesterday it found and seized a network of 100,000 SIM cards and over 300 servers (see pics of the stash) capable of crashing NYC’s cell network or conducting surveillance on U.N. meetings. A multi-agency investigation is ongoing.

IN OTHER BREWS…
Jimmy Kimmel Live! is back on (some of) the air. ABC had suspended the late-night show over the host’s “ill-timed” comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination, but after “thoughtful conversations with Jimmy,” the Disney-owned company decided to “return the show” yesterday. However, Sinclair and Nexstar, whose ABC affiliates broadcast to ~25% of American households, say they still won’t air the show.
NVIDIA is pushing its chips in with OpenAI. The two AI titans are teaming up on a “giant” datacenter deployment that will require 10 gigawatts of power (enough juice to power ~8 million homes). Nvidia will invest up to $100B in OpenAI and will be the ChatGPT-maker’s “preferred” chip supplier. NVIDIA stock popped nearly 4%, adding $170B in value overnight.
Ryan Routh was found guilty of trying to assassinate then-presidential candidate Trump on a Florida golf course. Prosecutors presented evidence that the assassination attempt was premeditated, including a note by Routh stating, “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.” The 59-year-old represented himself and tried to stab himself with a pen after the verdict was read.
Democrats are divided over Kamala Harris’s new memoir. The former VP’s new book, 107 Days, details her unsuccessful presidential bid after then-President Biden dropped out. Critical Democrats say some deets—including her decision not to run alongside then-Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg because of his sexual orientation and open criticisms of Biden—“pick fights” within the party.
The public can now scroll through the preliminary TikTok deal. The proposal says China’s ByteDance will license TikTok’s algorithm to a new, U.S.-based joint venture. Investors include private equity firm Silver Lake, tech giant Oracle (which will oversee the platform’s stateside security and “retrain” the algorithm), and possibly billionaires Rupert Murdoch and Michael Dell. ByteDance would retain less than 20% ownership.
