QUOTE OF THE DAY

Fit for a King
President Trump traded fluffy biscuits for crispy ones in his historic second state visit to the U.K.
A royal parade ushered America’s first couple to Windsor Castle on Wednesday, kicking off a state visit brimming with pomp, circumstance, and interesting hats (see pictures). Around the 160-person dinner table (pictured), #47 called the invitation “one of the highest honors of my life,” praising the countries’ “irreplaceable and unbreakable” bond. King Charles praised Trump’s “personal commitment” to “finding solutions” to global conflicts.
In central London, several thousand gathered for a “Stop Trump” protest, condemning “racism” and “arming Israel.”
The President traveled to PM Keir Starmer’s country estate yesterday to talk geopolitics in a private meeting. The two confirmed $340B in new investments to boost jobs and profits “both ways of the Atlantic.”

Verse to consider whether your workday involves a red-carpet trip, an overflowing inbox, or twelve dirty diapers… “Satisfy us in the morning with your faithful love so that we may shout with joy and be glad all our days… Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish for us the work of our hands—establish the work of our hands!”

Jimmy Kimmel Suspended
ABC says Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been indefinitely suspended over the late-night host’s “offensive and insensitive” comments.
On Monday, Kimmel said the “MAGA gang” was trying to use the assassination of Charlie Kirk to “score political points.” FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr called the remarks “sick” and suggested a regulatory investigation into ABC—the show was suspended hours later.
Many Republicans cheered the decision, while Democratic lawmakers and Hollywood writers called the pressure from the FCC an assault on free speech and “corrupt abuse of power.”
Meanwhile, thousands are expected to flood Arizona’s State Farm Stadium wearing red, white, and blue for Charlie Kirk’s memorial on Sunday. Speakers from the Trump administration—including the President—will join Erika Kirk (Turning Point USA’s new CEO) to pay tribute, alongside Christian performers like Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, and Kari Jobe.

CHRISTIAN RESPONSE
Moments of grief and contention often become flashpoints, but Christians can be at the forefront of the effort to de-escalate political tension. We know our time as citizens of Earth is just a blip on the timeline of eternity, which gives us hope and motivates holiness.
“For the grace of God has appeared… instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age, while we wait for the blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”

Officer Shooting
Three law enforcement officers were killed and two others were critically wounded in a shooting in Pennsylvania on Wednesday afternoon.
The officers were following up on a domestic investigation that began the day before. Police say the suspect, identified as a 24-year-old accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend, appeared to be lying in wait in a cornfield near her home; he opened fire when the officers arrived. One of the wounded officers fatally shot the suspect, and authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the community.
The shooting took place on a farm in North Codorus Township—with a population of just over 9,000 people—in York County, Pennsylvania.
The two wounded officers are in critical but stable condition and are being treated at a nearby hospital. The FBI is assisting in the ongoing investigation.

PRAY WITH US
The hope of resurrection doesn’t mean we don’t grieve real tragedies, but it does mean that death won’t have the final word. Pray for the injured and the families of those lost, that they would turn to Christ for healing, comfort, and hope.
“O Lord… be merciful to those now wounded. Be present with those now bereaved… Your heart is always inclined toward those who suffer. Now let your mercies be active through the hands, the words, and the compassionate care of those who willingly enter this sadness to console and to serve.”

IN OTHER BREWS…
Two hangings were discovered in Mississippi. Demartravion “Trey” Reed, a 21-year-old Black student, was found hanging from a tree at Delta State University on Monday morning. Police suspect no foul play, but his family is awaiting an independent autopsy. Hours later, Cory Zukatis, a 35-year-old White man, was found hanged in Vicksburg, though officials say the cases aren’t connected.
Rates finally got trimmed. With an 11-1 vote, the Fed cut interest rates by a quarter percentage point—the first cut of 2025—and indicated there could be two more this year. Chairman Powell called it a “risk management cut” aimed at boosting the cooling job market. Economists say mortgage rates and car loans won’t tumble overnight, but should begin to trend down.
President Trump said Wednesday that he’ll designate Antifa as a “major terrorist organization” and recommend that those funding the “sick, dangerous, radical” anti-facist movement be investigated. Some are questioning the move’s constitutionality; the State Department is permitted to list “foreign terrorist organizations,” but critics say domestic groups’ speech and funding are protected under the First Amendment.
The CDC clash continues. Former head Susan Monarez, who got the boot just 29 days into the job after disagreements with RFK Jr., told senators the HHS Secretary wanted “blanket approval” from his hand-picked advisory board on vaccine recommendations. She warned that he plans to change the childhood vaccine schedule soon without an independent data analysis.
Ben & Jerry’s is on a rocky road. Co-founder Jerry Greenfield is leaving after 47 years, saying parent company Unilever stripped the ice cream maker of its independence to speak on social issues. In a letter posted by co-founder Ben Cohen, Greenfield said he couldn’t “in good conscience” stay, lamenting that the brand’s once-protected social mission has now melted away.
