Parade of Primaries
Voters in six states—California, Iowa, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, and South Dakota—headed to the primary polls yesterday.
The marquee event was California’s race to replace term-limited Gov. Newsom. While Republicans largely consolidated around Trump-backed Steve Hilton, Democratic voters sifted through six candidates, with billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer and former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra leading the polls. Votes are still being counted in the Golden State, where the top two vote-getters advance to November regardless of party.
Dems in Iowa eyed an open Senate seat, with state Rep. Josh Turek and state Sen. Zach Wahls both vying to face Trump-backed Rep. Ashley Hinson in November.
Meanwhile in Maine, Democrat Graham Platner faces a sexting scandal ahead of his June 9 primary, threatening his bid to unseat incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins.

A verse to consider whether you’re pleased or disappointed by the election outcomes…“Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the flocks disappear from the pen and there are no herds in the stalls, yet I will celebrate in the LORD; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation! The LORD my Lord is my strength.”

TECHNOLOGY
Prompt to Sue
The Sunshine State is taking OpenAI to civil court.
Florida’s attorney general filed an 83-page complaint against OpenAI on Monday, alleging the company knowingly misled the public about ChatGPT’s safety, particularly for minors. The suit follows a criminal investigation opened in April tied to the 2025 FSU shooting; the accused gunman allegedly consulted ChatGPT before killing two people and injuring six.
Meanwhile, AI companies are racing to Wall Street.
Anthropic—best known as the maker of Claude—filed paperwork on Monday to go public as early as this fall, potentially before rival OpenAI. While its financials remain private for now, Anthropic said it raised money at a $965B valuation last month, surpassing OpenAI’s $852B valuation in March. Meanwhile, SpaceX (which owns xAI) is expected to fetch a $1.7+ trillion valuation when it IPOs later this month.

CHRISTIAN RESPONSE
As courts discuss the effect of AI on society, it’s a good moment for personal reflection on AI’s effect on our lives, relationships, and heart-habits. Whatever tools or technology we adopt, our aim should be to use them wisely and in ways that increase the fruit of the Spirit in us.
“Walk by the Spirit and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh… The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
Galatians 5:16, 22-23 (CSB) (read full passage)

Stalls & Strikes
The U.S. and Iran are playing peace-deal ping-pong.
Peace talks were suspended Monday after days of strikes: the U.S. hit Iranian radar and drone sites in proclaimed “self-defense” this weekend, and Israel escalated its assault on Hezbollah Monday—both of which Tehran called ceasefire violations. Meanwhile, Iran’s retaliation attempt against Uncle Sam’s forces in Kuwait was intercepted overnight Sunday.
President Trump said he “couldn’t care less” if talks paused, saying Iran’s stalling had made them “very boring,” but posted an hour later that dialogue was “continuing at a rapid pace.” POTUS later announced he brokered an Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire by phone; though Netanyahu said the IDF would “continue to operate as planned.”
Added to the negotiation table: Iran’s threat to activate Houthi forces to block the Bab el-Mandeb strait—a second maritime chokepoint—should talks fail.

PRAY WITH US
With so much hanging in the balance of these negotiations, we call upon the Spirit of the Incarnate Word to illuminate the minds of world leaders with wisdom and carve a path toward peace.
“Almighty God, from whom all thoughts of truth and peace proceed: Kindle, we pray, in the hearts of all people the true love of peace, and guide with your pure and peaceable wisdom those who take counsel for the nations of the earth; that in tranquility your kingdom may go forward, till the earth is filled with the knowledge of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen”

IN OTHER BREWS…
The Trump Admin appears to be dropping its “Anti-Weaponization Fund.” The DOJ said Monday it “disagrees strongly” but is complying with a court order to halt the $1.776B “anti-weaponization” fund—other reports suggest it won’t be revived. The fund sparked legal and political pushback, including from Senate Majority Leader Thune (R-SD), who encouraged the DOJ to “shut it down.”
President Trump’s pick for acting Director of National Intelligence has one three jobs. Tuesday, #47 tapped Bill Pulte—Housing Finance Agency director and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac chairman—to also oversee the nation’s spy agencies. Trump said Pulte’s current work gives him overlapping skills, while critics question the real estate scion’s lack of national security experience, especially amid the U.S.-Iran war.
The GOAT is dusting off her racket. Serena Williams, 44—winner of 23 grand slam titles—accepted a wild-card invitation to play doubles at Queen’s Club in London starting June 8, her first competitive match since the 2022 U.S. Open. Tennis fans love-love’d the news and have been speculating Wimbledon (June 29) could be next.
You’ve got a friend in T. Swift. Toy Story 5 hits theaters June 19—31 years after Woody and Buzz first graced the big screen—and this time Taylor Swift is along for the ride. Going back to her country roots, Swift penned “I Knew It, I Knew You,” with Jack Antonoff for Jessie the cowgirl. Analysts anticipate a massive opening weekend.
Massachusetts’ Uber and Lyft drivers just turned onto Union Street. The Bay State became the first to officially recognize a ride-share union—representing ~70,000 drivers—after a 2024 ballot measure paved the way for unique gig-worker labor organization. Beyond better pay, drivers are uniting around job security as Waymo and other automated vehicles continue to ascend.
