Andrew Arrested
Former Prince Andrew was arrested in the U.K. yesterday.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was stripped of his royal titles last year amid scrutiny over his ties to Epstein, was taken into custody on suspicion of misconduct while in public office. Later in the day, he was released without charges and remains under investigation.
Authorities say the arrest was linked to allegations from documents released in the Epstein files, including claims he shared confidential information with the late sex offender during his time as a U.K. trade envoy from 2001-2011. Searches were carried out at properties in Norfolk and Berkshire.
The former Duke of York has consistently maintained his innocence. In a statement, King Charles (Andrew’s brother) said he’d learned of the arrest with “deepest concern” and that “the law must take its course.”

CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE
Whether we’re satisfied with how justice is carried out here on earth or still searching for closure, Christians can rest in the fact that Christ knows everything, is completely sovereign, and pours out perfect justice and mercy from His eternal throne.
“Sing praise to God, sing praise; sing praise to our King, sing praise! Sing a song of wisdom, for God is King of the whole earth. God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.”

TV Time
Talk shows and the FCC are fighting over equal time.
Yesterday, the Federal Communications Commission said it’s investigating whether ABC’s “The View” interview with Texas Senate candidate James Talarico (D) violated the equal time rule, a 1934 provision requiring broadcasters that give airtime to one political candidate to offer comparable time to opponents.
Historically, talk shows have been treated like news broadcasts and exempt from the rule, but the FCC now says it has “no evidence” that the shows “qualify” for exemption.
News of the ABC probe comes as CBS’s “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” pulled a separate interview with Talarico to avoid equal-time scrutiny. Colbert said his network prematurely bowed to regulators, and other FCC critics say the “government intimidation” violates free speech.
CBS aired Colbert’s interview on YouTube instead, and Talarico’s campaign raised a record $2.5M.

Verse to consider whether you’re fighting for more air time or wishing for some peace and quiet… “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look not to his own interests, but rather to the interests of others.”

Team USA’s had a golden week.
On Wednesday, Mikaela Shiffrin won gold in women’s slalom skiing after failing to medal in Beijing in 2022. Then yesterday, Alyssa Lui triple-lutzed her way to figure skating gold (see the highlights), and the undefeated women’s hockey team outscored Canada 2-1 in overtime to top the podium.
Meanwhile, Norwegian skier Johannes Klæbo extended his winningest-Winter-Olympian record with a 10th career gold, ski mountaineering made its Olympic debut, and Nazgul, the ringwraith wolfdog, made his Olympic debut when he crashed a women’s cross-country skiing event (see his epic race to the finish).
Now, eyes are sliding to men’s hockey. Team USA faces Slovakia in the semis today after its own OT win over Sweden Wednesday (see the winning slapshot). Catch the final and the Olympic closing ceremonies on Sunday.

CHRISTIAN RESPONSE
Sure, it’s “just a game,” but sports are an opportunity to experience camaraderie with fellow fans and to enjoy the thrill of watching athletes do what God created them to do. As you watch athletes compete, thank God that He also made you to do beautiful things, and pray that you’d bring Him glory in all you do.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.”

IN OTHER BREWS…
South Korea’s former President Yoon Suk Yeol has been handed a life sentence. Yesterday, a South Korean court found the former leader guilty of insurrection for briefly imposing martial law in 2024. Yoon was impeached last April and arrested in July after his presidential compound was sieged; prosecutors sought the death penalty, while Yoon pleaded not guilty and plans to appeal.
Eight skiers were found dead Tuesday after a powerful avalanche in California’s Sierra Nevada. The group was skiing in remote terrain near Lake Tahoe when they were swept away in the deadliest avalanche in the state’s modern history. Six skiers were rescued alive, and one remains missing but is presumed dead; recovery efforts continue amid dangerous conditions.
Mark Zuckerberg testified Wednesday in a landmark social media addiction trial. Addressing 20-year-old plaintiff KGM’s accusations that Meta designed platforms to be addictive to minors and caused her mental health harm, Instagram’s owner commented that he’s “not trying to maximize” use and admitted some users “lie about their age.” The jury’s decision may pull threads on thousands of similar lawsuits.
